Now What?

I find I am clutching my mug of steaming hot coffee a bit tighter lately, grabbing for the throw blanket to burrito myself in more often than usual, and procrastinating a little longer before rolling out of bed or stepping out of the scorching shower. Winter has officially set in for Long Island. BRRR!

The garbage is filled with empty cardboard hearts, yes plural, and a new blemish has erupted on my chin (which for me, is unusual). We have gone through several sketch pads, glue sticks and packages of construction paper in this house. The DVR is empty, every book has been read, the toys have been played with and Logos have been built. We have beaded necklaces and bracelets, molded Play-Doh into mini animal shapes and even practiced some school work.

Its only Monday! SIX MORE DAYS! Six more days the kids are home from school and the snacks are depleting at an astounding rate! Its too cold to go outside and after an unexpected vet bill, my budget is a bit tight.  (Doggie is doing fine now 🙂  )

Its only Monday! Now what?

If it was up to me, I’d remain a burrito all week long reading, writing and editing. Sigh . . but that will not satisfy four energetic children. So does anyone have any great suggestions?

Ugh. So is school cancelled? Why no school for 6 more days? (I’m not on the East Coast so I’m out of the loop, I guess…)

Do you have boys or girls or both? Clean out your closet and let them play dress up? Have them build a fort with cushions, pillows and blankets? Puppet shows? Scavenger hunts? Errr… 6 days?! Oh dear…

Scavenger Hunts – i think you are on to something! LOL I know six days with cold weather, if it was nice out this would be easy. Thank you for the suggestions, they are great!! I def will try!! 🙂

  2. Nice and warm here in Seattle. Sunny too. Just had to brag a little because usually out weather SUCKS.

We still wrap up our babies like burritos though. Sweet little baby burritos. 🙂

Hope it warms up for you and that you don’t go crazy with the kids.

    • My point exactly! I mean you’re five – you can’t feed yourself three meals a day and clean up after? Oh and there are four of you, honestly – teamwork people!! LOL 🙂 They are actually great little people & I have only broken up about 20 fights in the last few days – major improvement here!! 🙂 Thank you for reading & understanding my burrito needs 🙂

  3. Last year, our winter was brutal. The kids were supposed to return to school on a Tuesday after winter break, but Tuesday was too snowy, and then Wednesday, and then Thursday, and it ended up being eleven days lost. We did not get bored, but we did get cabin fever!
All I can say is enjoy your comforts 😀
